From the Desk of: Mary Bethel Olson

For those of you who don’t know me personally, when I’m not working at the Daily Journal, I’m usually playing music with my husband for our band Blue Red Roses.

One week ago, I got the chance to perform on the First Ave. 7th St. Entry stage for the first time. It was a blast!

What are some of your favorite local (or national/international) bands? Let me know on NABUR!

It’s time to step up your game when it comes to your pen collection. Whether you need new pens for work, school or home, Kennedy Secondary School has the perfect pens for you.

I recently had the chance to sit down with KSS student Destiny Maanum and talk with her about her creative work making unique, fun pens through the help of the Twisted Pen Factory. Keep an eye out for the full article coming out soon.

Her pens are for sale at the Otter Outlet in KSS. Check out this video to see her creativity in action.

P.S. I’m using a bright purple whale tail pen as we speak.

On this day in 1801, the first edition of America’s oldest newspaper, The New York Evening Post, was published. Established by Alexander Hamilton, the paper has certainly changed a lot over the past 220 years. Read about the paper’s interesting history here.

Did you know that the Daily Journal has been around since 1873? Not quite as old as the New York Post - but getting up there!

Have a wonderful rest of your week!
